Curtis Block
Calgary, AB
The ground interface design study for the former Curtis Block—now the site of the BLVD mixed-use tower—focused on reimagining the commercial streetscape to create a more vibrant, pedestrian-friendly environment while honoring the site's historical identity. Located at a key intersection in Calgary's Beltline, the study explored strategies to reintegrate elements of the Curtis Block's past through material choices, interpretive features, and urban form, all while enhancing the functionality and appeal of the public realm. Emphasizing active frontages and curation of uses throughout, the work was developed into a conceptual masterplan that informs the integration of commercial and amenity uses with resident’s day to day encounters.
