Father Lacombe Care Centre
Calgary, AB
Father Lacombe Care Centre reimagines long-term care as a warm, community-focused haven nestled within Calgary’s southeast. The design clusters small “households” of resident suites around light-filled living rooms, dining areas, and landscaped courtyards, allowing seniors—many with high-acuity needs—to experience the rhythms of home rather than an institution. A welcoming public entry, chapel, and multi-purpose hall open the building to families and neighbours, anchoring the facility as a social heart for both residents and the surrounding community. Sustainable mass-timber structure, ample daylight, and biophilic finishes foster wellness while reducing environmental impact. Balancing clinical efficiency with human dignity, the Father Lacombe Care Centre sets a new benchmark for compassionate, future-ready elder care in Alberta.
