King Edward Hotel

Banff, AB

The King Edward Hotel Redevelopment is a phased revitalization project focused on reactivating a prominent heritage asset in Calgary's urban core. Phase 1 involves the main floor and street corner redevelopment, including the addition of a new entry to access lower-level retail space—enhancing street engagement and commercial viability. The design approach respects the building’s historical significance while introducing functional upgrades to support modern retail uses.

Planned as part of a multi-phase redevelopment, Phase 2 will see the transformation of the currently vacant third floor into boutique hotel suites, restoring the building’s original hospitality function and further contributing to the site’s historical legacy and urban vibrancy.

This project highlights a sensitive yet forward-looking approach to heritage reuse, balancing preservation with purposeful modernization to ensure continued relevance in a contemporary context.
